Choosing Interior Paint Colors

Ready to paint your house ? You are now faced with choosing the perfect color of your choice to suit your personality. Selecting the appropriate colors takes experience, time, patience, effort  and creativity.

Application of colors will definitely add weight or warmth to a room, make it seem cooler or keep it simple. Balance the colors and shades that can give emphasis  a certain spot while giving some spaces a lighter look.

Certain points to consider when choosing a color for the interior of your house.

Visual Weight

Visually heavy colors are bright and dark colors while the lighter colors  are the light and pastel colors.

Add visual weight to a wall by choosing bold, bright colors. If you want to draw attention to the walls, one wall in particular, or to the ceiling, consider using a color that is bolder than any of the other colors found in the room.

Illusions of width can be achieved using color techniques like painting contrasting darker wall ends to the main wall’s lighter shade.

Create an illusion of height by painting the ceiling a light color. Light colors on the ceiling attract attention. In doing so, however, they make a room look taller than it actually is, making light colors especially well suited for low- to average-height ceilings.

Warmth

Warm earth colors  add coziness and intimacy conveying togetherness and strength.

For example a brown-tinted wall will  create a warm, inviting appearance. This color automatically triggers a sense of comfort in most individuals.

Neutral

Neutral colors   are great for balance, blending in easily with the surrounding and creating a versatility for furniture and fittings.

Neutral tones include shades of white, gray, black, and some browns.

White can be used  to create a blank slate. White on the ceiling reflects light and reduces shadows, making a room look more open. White on walls can also open a room and will make it look neutral in the process.
